Policy Advice and Statewide Planning Groups

General Practice Queensland (GPQ) currently provides policy advice and input into the Statewide planning processes of Queensland Health via a number of advisory groups and steering committees. 


Connecting Healthcare In Communities (CHIC) Statewide Partnership Group
Description

The roles and responsibilities of the group are to provide high level advice in relation to:

  • All policy, planning and implementation activities for the establishment and implementation of the Primary Health Care Partnership Councils at a state wide level;
  • All policy, planning and implementation responses to the Government’s agenda on strengthening primary health care though partnerships with the Divisions of General Practice and other non-Government agencies aimed at reducing the burden of chronic disease on the health system;
  • Identifying those Partnership Councils eligible for Incentive Program and Innovation funds to deliver initial priorities and initiatives in September, 2007 and then again in March, 2008;
  • The review of the 20 Partnership Councils in 2009; and
  • Policy, planning and implementation responses to the 2009 review of the Partnership Councils.

MindMatters/KidsMatter Reference Committee
Description The mission of the MindMatters/KidsMatter Reference Committee is to provide advice, support and strategic direction to the MindMatters and KidsMatter National Coordinators and State Project Officers in relation to the initiatives within the state.  Membership consists of representatives from each education system and sector, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representatives, principals and parents and related health sector representatives.

Queensland CoAG Mental Health Group
Description To ensure effective implementation of the CoAG National Action Plan on Mental health 2006-2011, it was agreed that the Premiers of Chief Ministers department in each State and Territory convene a CoAG Mental Health Group which will report to CoAG Senior Officials.

The Queensland CoAG Mental Health Group has two objectives:
  • To provide expert advise to relevant Queensland and Commonwealth government agencies responsible for implementing the initiatives announced in the National Action Plan on Mental Health 2006-2011;
  • To ensure that implementation is progressed in a way that optimises outcomes for people with mental illness in Queensland, minimises duplication and service gaps and improves access for mental health consumers to the broad range of community services and social supports.

Queensland Health Centre for Palliative Care Research and Education Advisory Group

Queensland Health Enterprise Discharge Summary Project Steering Committee
Description The purpose of this Committee is to develop an electronic discharge summary solution which improves access (timeliness) to patient discharge information to the GP and standardises the information provided on discharge from Queensland public hospitals.

Queensland Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Advisory Group
Description

Perinatal and infant mental health is a key action area for Mental Health Promotion, Prevention and Early Intervention under the Queensland Plan for Mental Health 2007-2017 and as such the Statewide Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Advisory Group has been established.

The Advisory Group focuses on mental health issues in the antenatal and perinatal periods and on the mental health and development of infants and young children 0-5 years and the mental health of their families.

Queensland Statewide Mental Health Network
Description The Statewide Mental Health Network was established in April, 2006 to provide strategic direction and leadership in Queensland mental health service reform through cooperative partnerships between health care providers, consumers, carers and key enabling stakeholders.
