Queensland Divisions eHealth Steering Group

A Queensland Divisions eHealth Steering Group was established in early 2010.

Comprised of representatives from GPQ, division CEOs and GPs, membership of this group was determined by GPQ based on individual’s experience and expertise in eHealth in recent years.  The first meeting of the eHealth Steering Group took place in January 2010.

eHealth Strategic Framework

As a result of an eHealth workshop held in July 2009, GPQ took the lead role in developing an eHealth Strategic Framework for the Queensland Divisions Network.

Aligning closely with the National eHealth Strategy (2008) and the NeHTA Strategic Plan (2009-2012), the Queensland Divisions eHealth Strategic Framework aims to provide local contextualisation of the national plans and strategies.

A set of guiding principles as well as four main goals supported by strategic activities was developed, distributed to the Network for comment, finalised and endorsed by the GPQ Board.  An eHealth Action Plan template based on the eHealth Strategic Framework has also been developed and can be used by General Practice Networks and Medicare Locals to assist with planning of eHealth activities.

To facilitate the implementation of the eHealth Strategic Framework and to provide more formal mechanisms and systems to deal with the complex eHealth environment, a new Queensland General Practice Networks and Medicare Locals eHealth Structure has been developed that graphically displays the relationship between the key groups that have been formed in Queensland and the key documents that have been developed.
