General Practice Queensland

Together we can build a better health system

Key Stakeholders

General Practice Queensland is committed to engagement and ongoing collaboration with the Queensland Government.  This partnership is critically important to General Practice Queensland and the Queensland Divisions Network.

General Practice Queensland’s strategic vision for working with the Queensland Government encompasses the following critical objectives:

  • To exert influence on health policy development in Queensland;
  • To have an impact on decisions relating to the delivery of health services in Queensland;
  • To promote the effective and efficient use of resources;
  • To raise the profile of general practice and promote partnerships within the primary health care sector; and
  • To encourage integration between general practice and other parts of the health system.

Achieving these objectives requires collaboration with key Queensland Government stakeholders.  These are identified in the table below which includes four strategic stakeholder areas:

  1. Engagement with the Qld Minister for Health;
  2. Engagement with the Qld Department of Premier and Cabinet;
  3. Engagement with  the Queensland Health  Executive Management Team; and
  4. Engagement with the Qld Department of Communities Executive.

These four areas are supported by a monitoring and reporting framework that will enable the monitoring and reporting on these four areas and GPQ’s broader stakeholder engagement and representation, policy, and advocacy activity.
