Lisa New - Program Coordinator: ABHI Primary Care Integration Program, QLD 

Lisa is the Program Coordinator for the Queensland Australian Better Health Initiative (ABHI) Primary Care Integration Program (PCIP), and works to establish integrated health care services and knowledge.  Previous projects included developing online CPD content for post graduate healthcare workers; improving prescription quality and safety in the tertiary healthcare sector; and researching and developing online decision support systems and communication platforms. With an MBChB from South Africa and MBA from the London Business School, Lisa is passionate about achieving improved healthcare outcomes sustainably through real-time clinical and managerial decision support at the point of care.

   

Jann Offer - Senior Program Leader: Chronic Disease

Jann is a Program Coordinator - Chronic Disease, working as a member of the Non-Government Chronic Disease Team to support the implementation of the Queensland Strategy for Chronic Disease 2005 - 2015. Before coming to General Practice Queensland, Jann was a Regional Care Manager at Blue Care with responsibility for the management of a diverse range of residential and community programs including allied health, domiciliary nursing and respite. With the team at General Practice Queensland, Jann will continue her engagement with the community health sector, working in partnership with the Divisions, to collaboratively address the proactive prevention and management of Chronic Disease.

   

Sabrina Ostowari - Program Coordinator: Chronic Disease

Sabrina is a Program Coordinator – Chronic Disease with the General Practice Chronic Disease Team to support the implementation of the Queensland Strategy for Chronic Disease 2005 - 2015.  Previously employed with General Practice Queensland as Program Coordinator for Population Health, Sabrina worked across a range of program areas including Lifescripts, pandemic planning and immunisation. Prior to joining General Practice Queensland in June 2006, Sabrina worked with both The Cancer Council Queensland and Cancer Institute NSW.

   

Phillipa Grant - Program Coordinator: Chronic Disease

Phillipa is a Program Coordinator - Chronic Disease and member of the Non-Government Chronic Disease Team to support the implementation of the Queensland Strategy for Chronic Disease 2005 - 2015.  Prior to joining General Practice Queensland Phillipa worked for Blue Care in clinical, management and project roles with a primary focus in the support and development of allied health sector initiatives.  Phillipa’s role has a primary focus on working in partnership with the Divisions to provide leadership, advice and support in the promotion and implementation of a self management approach to chronic disease.

   

Katie Griffin - Program Coordinator: Chronic Disease

Katie recently joined General Practice Queensland as a Program Coordinator - Chronic Disease. Prior to joining General Practice Queensland, Katie worked for Queensland Health as an RMO in Emergency. She also previously worked as an Occupational Therapist in both the hospital and community environments. Katie’s role will utilise her background knowledge of the interface between the acute and primary care settings, particularly in relation to diabetes.

David Millichap - Program Coordinator: eHealth

David is a member of the eHealth team at General Practice Queensland. David and the eHealth team are responsible for implementing the iHealth Care project, assisting Divisions with the IMMF, working with Divisions to improve data quality and progressing other eHealth initiatives. Before working for General Practice Queensland David was manager of the Cancer Helpline at the Queensland Cancer Fund.

Kat Murray - Program Officer: eHealth

Kat is the Program Officer for eHealth at General Practice Queensland. She is responsible for the maintenance of the iHealth Care Directory as well as providing administrative support to the eHealth Team.  Kat comes to General Practice Queensland from the Central Queensland Rural Division of General Practice.

 

 

   

Jane Sanders - Program Coordinator: Immunisation

Jane joined General Practice Queensland as the Program Coordinator - Immunisation. One of her priorities is to support the work that is done at a Division level with immunisation, vaccine management and data management, whilst working on the broader issue of improving coverage rates and tackling those hard to reach groups. Some of this work involves collaborating with a variety of state-wide organisations, but will also need Division input to keep her informed about what is happening in Qld Division Network. Jane also co-leads on the implementation of GPQ’s community engaement strategy. Jane has come to GPQ after working at the Whitehorse Division of General Practice in Melbourne as a Program Coordinator.

   

Karen Hale-Robertson - Senior Program Leader: Mental Health

Karen is the Senior Program Leader – Mental Health, and is responsible for the overall development and coordination of mental health initiatives.  Karen manages the ‘Improving the Physical Health of People with a Serious Mental Illness’ project, and supports Queensland Divisions of General Practice in the uptake of national primary mental health care initiatives. Karen also co-leads on the implementation of GPQ’s community engaement strategy. Karen’s previous experience includes working on a range of workforce development projects in England’s non-government sector, and coordinating the General Practice and Psychiatry Partnerships (GPAPP) initiative (based at GPQ from 1999-2003).

Cathy Beck - Program Coordinator: PIM

Cathy is a Program Coordinator – Mental Health and supports National Primary Mental Health Care Programs in Queensland. Cathy’s role is focuses on developing and maintaining relationships with state health agencies and non-government organisations as well as supporting divisions. Cathy has worked as a mental health clinician and has managed projects in the public health system. More recently, Cathy has worked at the state level on the implementation of a range of services aimed at improving support to people with a mental illness.

 

   
 

Kate White - Program Coordinator: Mental Health Development & Liaison Officer

Kate is currently finalising two immunisation projects including a review of the Qld Vaccine Management Project implementation and resources and a scoping study of immunisation data management in general practice.  Prior to joining GPQ in 2002 Kate worked at a local Division of General Practice in Brisbane. As a registered nurse Kate has a keen interest in developing the specialty of practice nursing for the delivery of comprehensive primary healthcare.  Kate holds a Masters of Public Health.

   

Kay Trotman - Program Coordinator: MSOAP

Kay is a Program Coordinator for MSOAP which aims to improve access for rural people to specialist services and provide upskilling opportunities for GPs and health professionals. Previously Kay was the Finance Officer for General Practice Queensland, has completed tertiary studies in Economics and has many years experience in management and finance in the private sector as well as the not-for-profit sector.

Emma Whitehead - Program Coordinator: NiGP

Emma is a Program Coordinator – Nursing in General Practice (NiGP) to support the implementation of practice nursing in General Practice. Previously employed with Queensland Health, Emma worked across a range of project areas as part of the ‘Eat Well Be Active’ initiative. Prior to moving to Australia in December 2006, Emma worked as a Manager for the National Health Service (NHS) (UK), leading primary care modernisation in prison healthcare, drug, alcohol and mental health services.  

   

Tim Heywood - Program Coordinator: Policy

Tim is a Program Coordinator at General Practice Queensland. Tim has responsibility for Policy Development and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health. Before working for General Practice Queensland, Tim worked for Blue Care and the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing.

Hope Darby - Program Coordinator: Policy

Hope is a Program Coordinator at General Practice Queensland. Hope is responsible for providing policy support to the General Practice Advisory Council (GPAC), developing consultative responses and contributing to State and Commonwealth policy documents, as well as for managing the representation process of GPQ. Hope was previously responsible for the Can Do Initiative: Managing Mental Health and Substance Use in General Practice program. Hope has undertaken undergraduate studies in Psychology and has a Masters degree in Public Health.

   

Elise Gorman - Program Officer: Population Health & QUM

Elise is a Program Officer for General Practice Queensland. Elise is responsible for providing support to the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program (QBCSP), Nursing in General Practice (NiGP) and Pandemic Planning in Queensland. Elise has completed a Bachelor of Health Science degree with majors in Public Health and Health Services Management.

   

Dr Kylie Armstrong, PhD - Senior Research Fellow

Kylie is based in the Northern Region at Townsville in the office of North and West Primary Health Care. Kylie completed Masters and Doctoral programs around work associated with chronic disease with a research interest in maternal and paediatric health. Kylie draws on extensive experience with large projects and in liaising with government authorities, educational institutions, clinicians, community groups, non-for-profit organisations and the private sector.
