MEMO - 2008 General Practice Queensland Board nominations

Nominations for the 3 General Practice Queensland Board positions closed as required under the General Practice Queensland constitution at 5:00pm on Thursday 11th September 2008.

The nominations received are as follows:

For the 1 rural position 

  1. Dr Ken Conolly
    - nominated by Dr Desmond Hill and Dr Alan McMahon, Far North Queensland Rural Division of General Practice

For the 1 urban position 

  1. Dr Ann McBryde (nominee profile)
    - nominated by Dr Henry Bryan and Dr Robert Gan, GP Partners
  2. Dr Meg Marsden (nominee profile)
    - nominated by Dr Bruce Willet and Dr Russell Hunter, South East Alliance of General Practice

For the 1 provincial position

  1. Dr Michael Donohue
    - nominated by Dr Nicki Murdock and Dr Patricia Harris, Capricornia Division of General Practice

An election will be required for the Urban candidate.  This election will be held at the General Practice Queensland’s AGM on 11th October 2008 at 1:30pm to be held at the Brisbane Convention Centre.  The Rural and Provincial nominees will be elected unopposed to the Board as the number of nominees matches the number of vacancies.

Reminder: For Divisions wishing to nominate a proxy for the AGM a form can be found by clicking here. This form is to be lodged with the General Practice Queensland Company Secretary no later than 24 hours prior to the scheduled commencement of the AGM.

GPQ Annual General Meeting

The 2008 General Practice Queensland AGM will take place on Saturday 11th October.  In accordance with the constitution, at this AGM 3 General Practice Queensland Board Director positions are due for election; 1 x Urban (Dr Meg Marsden), 1 x Provincial (Dr Michael Donohue), and 1 x Rural (Dr Ken Conolly).  The Company Secretary invites your Division to nominate General Practitioners for the Board of General Practice Queensland election.  Please note that the constitution allows that all retiring board members are eligible for re-election upon nomination.

Please find enclosed a number of relevant documents for the call for nominations phase of the election process:

  • Explanation of nomination process and nomination form
  • Nominee profile to be completed by all nominees
  • Information for potential nominees – Information for Board nominees, Board member position description, General Practice Queensland Board Member Remuneration Policy, Board Charter, Proxy form, sample Board calendar 2008.

If your Division is interested in nominating candidate/s for election to the Board of General Practice Queensland, please submit your nomination form/s by COB Thursday 11th September to the address indicated on the nomination form.  Following this date, General Practice Queensland will provide to Divisions a list of candidates names along with the names of the nominating persons.

If more than 2 Divisional subclass candidates are nominated then an election will occur at the AGM.

Please note that candidates must be General Practitioners; must be members of your Divisional subclass, and that nomination forms must be submitted in hardcopy.
