1. What is the Tactical eReferrals Project?
The Tactical eReferrals Project addresses the need for enhancement and implementation of a tactical electronic referral capability in order to enable the creation and transmission of referrals electronically from GPs to Queensland Health Outpatient Departments.This project is a stepping stone to a strategic eReferral solution and has been designed to meet the immediate eReferral requirements of GPs and Queensland Health facilities.
2. What does the Tactical eReferrals Project deliver?
GPs are provided with an electronic standardised referral template that can be installed directly into their clinical software. The template has been developed by GPQ and is available in:- Medical Director 2 and 3
- Best Practice
- Practix
- Genie
Queensland Health Specialist Outpatient Departments have the capability to receive, decrypt and view the referral message.
3. What are the benefits of the Tactical eReferrals solution?
The Tactical eReferrals Project delivers significant benefits to both General Practitioners and Queensland Health Specialist Outpatient Departments.Benefits for GPs include:
- Increased GP satisfaction with the referral process through reduced GP administration time creating a referral due to auto-population and increased knowledge and choice of private and public options
- Increased security and privacy.
4. Who can use the Tactical eReferral solution?
All General Practitioners who use Medical Director, Best Practice, Practix or Genie can implement and use the Tactical eReferrals template.All Queensland Health Specialist Outpatient Departments which have Secure Transfer Service capability can receive the referral electronically.
5. When is the solution being implemented?
Implementation of the Tactical eReferrals solution commenced with a pilot in Cairns Base Hospital in July 2010.Other eReferral solutions
